Former Celtic and Rangers defender interviewed for Kilmarnock manager's job

Steven Pressley has been interviewed by Kilmarnock over the vacant manager’s position at Rugby Park.

The former Scotland defender, who enjoyed spells with Rangers, Dundee United, Hearts and Celtic among others, is one of four candidates to meet with the Killie hierarchy.

The Scottish Premiership side are on the hunt for a new manager after Alex Dyer left by mutual consent following last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to St Johnstone.

Head of football operations and ex-Kilmarnock midfielder James Fowler has taken over on an interim basis alongside assistant Andy Millen and captain Gary Dicker. The trio are expected to remain in place for this Saturday’s trip to St Mirren.

Pressley has been out of management since leaving Carlisle United in 2019. He has previously had stints with Falkirk, Coventry City, Fleetwood Town and Cypriot club Paphos.

Stephen Robinson, who left Motherwell at the turn of the year, former St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright and Jim McIntyre have also been linked with the role.
