Maguire, who has hit 11 goals in 41 appearances for Sunderland this season, muses over the answer before an amusing reveal.

He said: “Declan asks, ‘who would you rather play for: Rangers or Newcastle United?’

“Hmm, let me think about that one.”

As he ponders the question he takes a big drink from a ‘Treble Treble’ Celtic mug before answering: “None!”.

It prompted a number of Newcastle United and Rangers fans to reply, some querying who he is and others saying he wouldn’t get in the squad.

Maguire played more than 150 times for Aberdeen. He left for Derby County in 2011 before spells with Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United, Oxford United and Bury before joining Sunderland in the summer.

He was part of the Aberdeen squad which qualified for the Uefa Cup knockout stages during the 2007-2008 season, playing against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.
