Efe Ambrose to blame for loss, says Kris Commons

A FURIOUS Kris Commons made plain his disgust at team-mate Efe Ambrose last night as Celtic were left with a mountain to climb after yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to Juventus.

Ambrose, who had only just returned from the African Cup of Nations on Tuesday morning, endured a torrid game at Parkhead where he was widely adjudged to have been at fault for two of the three goals Celtic conceded, while also spurning opportunities to keep Celtic in contention.

Kris Commons criticised Efe Ambrose’s showing, and also spoke ot “certain individuals” who had let the team down.

“Look, the manager picked him. The manager pulled him to one side and asked him if he was feeling OK. He said he was feeling brilliant.

“You know, if he wasn’t feeling OK, then he should have said so.

“If he felt good, then he should have put in a better performance.”

Commons later added: “It was just very sloppy invidivual mistakes.

“Something you would probably get away with on a playground, not in the last 16 of the Champions League. There are certain individuals who let the team down tonight.

“At this level, you clearly can’t afford to make mistakes. If you do, you end up coming away with a 3-0 defeat.”
