Dundee Utd’s Johnny Russell ‘a target for Celtic’

DUNDEE United striker Johnny Russell is a target for Celtic manager Neil Lennon, according to reports.

The Tannadice forward is being weighed up by the Parkhead hierarchy as they potentially face a striker shortage.

A suspected hamstring injury may rule out Georgios Samaras for several weeks, while Gary Hooper remains the subject of intense transfer speculation as Norwich prepare a fourth bid for the forward.

Russell is also attracting interest from Championship outfit Crystal Palace, and Lennon admitted that Celtic may add to their squad before the closure of the transfer deadline.

“We’re toying with the idea of bringing someone in. Players will be thrown at you on the last day and it does get pretty busy.

“You have to digest it and make a decision. Is it good for us? Is it the right position? So we’ll see.”
