Don’t take Legia Warsaw lightly, Zyro warns Celtic

The Polish side cruised through to a Champions League tie with Celtic by hammering Irish champions St Patrick’s Athletic. After a poor 1-1 first leg in Poland, Legia stepped up and thrashed St Pat’s 5-0 in Dublin. And midfielder Zyro reckons they are shaping up nicely to face Celtic, with the first leg in Poland on Wednesday.

He said: “Celtic should not underestimate us. You saw the real Legia out there in Dublin. They gave us lots of space and we were able to take advantage of it.

“In the first leg, we didn’t play as we can. We showed in Ireland how well we can play. The 1-1 draw in Warsaw was an accident – it was just a bad day at the office for us. When we play Celtic, they can expect the Legia of the second leg to show up and not the second leg. We are confident we can beat Celtic and go though. Why not?”

Meanwhile, striker Jordan Larsson, son of former Sweden and Celtic striker Henrik, is following his father’s footsteps by moving from lower-league Hogaborg to Helsingborg, just as his dad did 22 years ago.

Henrik Larsson made his name at Helsingborg before embarking on a professional career during which he won a host of trophies at Celtic and Barcelona before returning at the end of his career and now his 17-year-old son is taking a similar path.

“Helsingborg is a fantastic club, hopefully I can develop into a very good player here, and I believe I can,” Jordan Larsson told the club’s websitey.

But despite the obvious similarities to his father, his new club is keen to give the teenager the space to develop at his own pace.

“They are two different people and there is no need to put an unnecessary burden on Jordan’s shoulders by comparing him to his father,” Helsingborg sporting director Jesper Jansson said in a statement.

“Obviously there are similarities in patterns of movement and football intelligence, but let him form his own career.”

For Larsson junior, there is no pressure in having a former Golden Boot and European Cup winner as his dad.

“For me he’s just a regular dad. Obviously I’m proud of what he has done in football, but for me he’ll always be my dad,” said Larsson.

“I’ve heard that some say that we move in the same way and that we’re very alike in our playing style, while others say we’re not alike at all.”

• Rangers’ trip to Raith Rovers in the Championship has been switched from Saturday 13 September to the previous Friday night and will be live on BT Sport with a 7:45pm kick-off. The Premiership clash between Celtic and Aberdeen on the Saturday (13 Sept) will be live on Sky Sports at 12:45pm. There is another Friday night game on 19 September when BT Sport will screen Partick Thistle v St Mirren at 7:45pm. The Dundee derby that weekend has been moved to Sunday (21 Sept) and will be live on Sky at 12:15pm. On Saturday 27 September, St Mirren v Celtic is live on Sky Sports at 12.45pm and Rangers v Hibernian is on BT Sport at 7.45pm on Monday 29 September.
