Dermot Desmond backs Neil Lennon to stay as Celtic boss - reports

Neil Lennon will remain Celtic manager until at least the end of the season, according to reports this morning.

In the face of mounting protests and criticism of the team and club stewardship in November, Lennon was given a grace period until after the Old Firm game when the Celtic board were said to be reviewing his position in charge of first-team affairs.

Having won five games since, and a sixth on penalties in the Scottish Cup final to complete a quadruple treble, Lennon has turned Celtic’s fortunes around from the struggles that saw them go five games without a win and exit the Europa League group stage and Betfred Cup at home to Ross County.

And, despite the weekend Old Firm defeat stretching Rangers’ advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 19-points, the Parkhead boss is still said to have the backing of club major shareholder Dermot Desmond and will stay in position for the foreseeable future, according to the Scottish Sun.
