Deila: Celtic must deal with fans who spoiled silence

Ronny Deila admitted he was “disappointed” pockets of Celtic fans among their travelling support disrupted yesterday’s minute’s silence for Remembrance Sunday.

The Celtic manager later praised his team for overcoming wild conditions as well as Ross County to re-establish their six-point lead at the top of the Premiership after a 4-1 win in the Highlands. But the afternoon began in sour fashion as some Celtic fans chose to shout out during the silence.

Deila said: “I am disappointed about it – but this is something the club will maybe say something about. Personally, it is disappointing.”

The manager added that the scenes behind the goal where Celtic fans were situated had surprised him, considering the efforts made by the club to stamp out such behaviour. “Coming from Norway, I don’t know too much about these things, but it is something the club has to deal with,” he said.

Deila was happier with the outcome of a testing encounter after Thursday’s shattering Europa League defeat to Molde at Celtic Park. “It is always important to bounce back,” he said. “It was tough mentally to get over Thursday [v Molde]. But we scored nice goals and got three points.”
