Celtic striker Jonathan Afolabi has completed a season-long loan move to Championship side Dundee.

The Ireland youth international joined the Parkhead club last summer following his release from Southampton but has yet to feature for Neil Lennon’s first team.

He has previous experience in the Scottish second tier having moved to Dunfermline Athletic on loan in January where he scored twice in six appearances before the campaign was cut short due to coronavirus.

Afolabi’s potential was recognised when he was named in the team of the tournament for the UEFA European Under 19 Championship last year and he has since gone on to win two caps for the Ireland Under 21 side.

In a club statement Dundee confirmed that the 20-year-old forward met his new team mates for training yesterday and will wear the number 17 squad number for Dens Park side this season.
