Killie goalkeeper Colin Doyle was adjudged to have brought down the Swiss forward during the 4-0 win at Rugby Park, though replays showed there was minimal contact. Odsonne Edouard stepped up to dispatch the penalty and put Celtic into a 2-0 lead.

Three ex-referees have reviewed the footage and decided the 23-year-old deserves punishment for simulation. Celtic can appeal the decision before the fast-track hearing on February 8.

Captain Scott Brown, meanwhile, has avoided any sort of punishment for a clash involving Killie midfielder Aaron Tshibola.

In trying to block off the former Aston Villa player, Brown caught Tshibola in the face with his forearm. But the panel of former Grade One officials have decided there is no case to answer for.

Brown netted the opening goal in Tuesday’s match.
