Celtic hero Pat Bonner believes he saw further improvement in his former side during Wednesday’s 3-0 victory over Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

Neil Lennon’s men won the match comfortably thanks to a pair of impressive first-half strikes from Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull before Odsonne Edouard made sure of the points with a late lofted finish over the goalkeeper.

It represents their sixth consecutive victory, where they’ve scored two or more goals in each match, their third consecutive clean sheet and gives the side some momentum going into Saturday’s clash with Rangers at Ibrox.

Bonner, however, isn’t just impressed with the turnaround with regards to the improvement in both penalty boxes. Against United the BBC pundit was particularly pleased to see the intensity of the midfield in winning back possession from their opponents.

He said on Sportsound: “What Celtic did so well today that I think has been missing is that they had a good reaction every time they lost the ball. They won it right back so many times. They went about hunting in packs.

“They are beginning to find that form, but they not only need to get the three points, they also need to ask questions of Rangers.

“There are still question marks defensively. Dundee United, who weren’t in the game for long periods, still created a couple of really good chances.

“I think the introduction of the younger players has almost asked questions of those who thought they deserved to be in the team every week, and that’s stirred them up also.”
