Mikey Johnston can play a key role in making the breakthrough against Livingston at Celtic Park, says former assistant manager John Collins.

Johnston‘s performance against Hibs on Monday night was much maligned by the Hoops support, but Collins sees a key role for the youngster.

“I’d like to see Mikey Johnston hit the by-line more - and stay wide to stretch the Livingston back four to create a two-on-one with Laxalt.

“Staying wide will also give Calum McGregor more space to play the penetrating passes - because there weren’t any in the first half,” he told Celtic TV.

After early Livingston pressure, the Hoops went close in the first half but a 20-yard strike from McGregor flew over after a quarter of an hour and Jeremie Frimpong had a shot close in beaten away by Max Strijcek five minutes later.
