Celtic fined £9500 by UEFA for Milan misconduct

CELTIC have been hit with another UEFA fine for supporter misconduct at their recent Europa League tie with Inter Milan.

European football’s governing body have issued the Hoops with a fine for €13,000 - about £9525 - following the 1-0 defeat in Italy, STV are reporting.

UEFA have fined Celtic €8,000 (about £5862) for the team’s ‘improper conduct’ and a further €5,000 (about £3663) after two flares were set off in the crowd by travelling fans at the match on February 26.

As well as Virgil van Dijk’s red card for two bookable offences, Adam Matthews, Craig Gordon, Nir Bitton, Emilio Izaguirre and Kris Commons were all booked during - or in Commons case, after - the match.

Celtic were fined for the ‘improper conduct of the team’ due to the side receiving ‘5 cards or more’.

Inter Milan were charged after fans set off fireworks and received a fine of €5,000.

Celtic have not yet commented on the punishment.
