Celtic fans rage at Neil Lennon over 'crazy team selection' for St Johnstone clash

Neil Lennon has made two changes to the Celtic side who started the 4-0 victory over St Mirren in midweek.

As expected, Shane Duffy returns to the back four after an injury to Stephen Welsh sustained in the aforementioned win ruled out the young defender.

However, there was a surprise elsewhere in the team with Ryan Christie returning to the starting XI after scoring off the bench in Paisley. The midfielder looks like he’ll partner Odsonne Edouard up front with Albian Ajeti dropped to the bench, a move which has angered Celtic fans on social media:

@GrandAuldPod: “Don't understand dropping Ajeti, especially if it's not to bring Klimala in, but then I'm not the outgoing Celtic manager.”

@frankjnrjnr: “Christie upfront when we've got 3 strikers on the bench how are Griffiths or ajeti menty get match fit never getting a run of games.”

@Seangallagher16: “I’m sick of Lennon man, Barkas is number one gets 2 games, brown can’t play every week, then he does, ajeti will get a run of games, then gets 3, we find a winning formula then he changes it, 3 strikers on the bench and 1 upfront, mental.”

@DeeTheTim: “What happened to Ajeti’s run of games? Only last 10 days aye?”

@67HolyGrd: “Yet again crazy team selection from Lennon why drop Ajeti and play Christie. Too many midfielders yet again.”

Though not everyone thought it was a no-brainer that Ajeti started.

@bobby__peru countered: “I understand that Lennon can’t do anything right at the moment but I’m struggling to see what other people are seeing in Ajeti. A lot of huff and puff but little quality.”
