While Turnbull’s 15th minute strike proved the difference, Hoops fans voted defender Kristoffer Ajer as their man of the match after a strong display at centre-half on his fifth anniversary since joining the club.

The 22-year-old’s performance drew praise from supporters on social media, with many expressing fears that the Norwegian will depart the club this summer.

Seán Ó Conchobhair (@SeanOConnor23): What a player will be biggest loss to Celtic in summer

Celtic Fc To The Core (@CelticFc_Core): An incredible talent. Hopefully we can hold onto him but unfortunately I think he'll be gone in the summer

Romania CSC (@Romania_CSC): Kris Ajer is a such a leader, it always shows in games like these. Happy five-year anniversary, big man!

Mel (@mel9samaras): Seeing the passion from Ajer after that match is what has been lacking at the club all season. Wish more of them cared half as much

Paradise Plaques (@ParadisePlaques): Big Ajer Is the man! We really need to try and keep hold of him for next season. He’s captain material.

While Ajer impressed, there was little positivity over the team’s performance as Celtic held on for three points.

Kevin Usher (@KevinUsher80): Grinding out results is better but I dont like this 442 diamond. No width in the team at all. Looks like Scottish Cup will be cancelled this season so it's been a long time since we went without silverware. Big improvement all over the park needed next season

Burkey67 (@celtic_mick): Absolutely rotten performance again ,season can't end quick enough tbh ,Lennon can't even get team playing flowing football with absolute no pressure on .....Get him out

Kenny (@k3nnyst): Still extremely painful viewing. Players regressing before our eyes. Strange substitutions. Not good enough

Marc Fenton (@CreativeFenton): Another poor performance apart from the first 30 mins until Aberdeen realised they can close us down by simply putting in an effort. Not good enough

Mike McV (@mmcveighbhoy7): Very, very poor 2nd half, got out of jail. May aswell not have a right side as nothing goes down it, no width yet Johnston sat on the bench. How can he say he misses Forrest when he doesn't play with any wide men.
