KR Reykjavik are currently eight matches into their league season and Rúnar Kristinsson’s men are second in the standings. Even still, Lennon will have been pleased to avoid Hungarian side Ferencvaros and Swedes Djurgardens, who were potential opponents.

Celtic last faced KR in 2014/15 Champions League qualifiers under Ronny Deila, winning 5-0 on aggregate.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the qualifiers for the Champions League have been adjusted, with Celtic facing three-rounds of one-off ties before a two-legged play-off round, should they make it that far.

The draw for the second qualifying round of the tournament is due to be made on Monday.
