Swedish international Robin Olsen has emerged as a potential target for Celtic as they scour Europe for a senior goalkeeper to provide competition to Scott Bain.

The Parkhead side are understood to have been carefully monitoring the Roma player as they seek to bolster an area of the team that has been shorn of Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon since last season.

At 30 years old and 6ft 5in, the 36-times capped Olsen fits the profile that Celtic manager Neil Lennon is seeking. Olsen, pictured, spent last season on loan with Cagliari after failing to settle following his €12 million move to Roma from Copenhagen in summer 2018.

He was linked with Celtic three years ago, ahead of leaving the Danish capital. But he moved instead to Roma as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Alisson on the back of starting all five of Sweden’s games in the 2018 World Cup finals.

Celtic are also running the rule of over AEK Athens keeper Vassilis Barkas, and have had a bid rejected.
