The right-back made his Hoops debut in the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock on Tuesday night after completing a transfer deadline day switch from the English Premier League side.

His performance was singled out for praise by Celtic boss Neil Lennon, who said: "Jonjoe played very well on his debut. He was very calm and looked like he’d been playing with us all season, even though he’d only trained with us for a day.

"Jonjoe knows the position, is a good defender and I thought he was very good going forward. I was delighted with his performance. I quite like his attitude and his enthusiasm for the game. He’s a gritty little hardy man and I thought he defended his position very well.”

Kenny will remain at Celtic Park until the end of the season, but asked whether the 23-year-old has a long-term future at Goodison, Ancelotti responded: "Yes. He is our player from the Academy. He had experience in Schalke, where he did really well.

"He came back and he did not find the space or the opportunities to play a lot. And so, we decided to give him the opportunity to play for six months to see what happens and he will be back in the summer."

Kenny was signed on deadline day as a replacement for Jeremie Frimpong who left for Bayer Leverkusen in an £11.5m transfer move last week.
