Celtic confirm signing of Albian Ajeti as club 'lead the way' in surprise move for Scotland international

The striker arrives from West Ham on a four-year deal

Celtic have completed the signing of Albian Ajeti, signing the striker on a four-year deal for a reported £5million.

The Swiss international arrives from West Ham United after much speculation.

Ajeti joined the Hammers last season for £8million but the move didn’t work out, playing just 12 times and failing to hit the back of the net.

The 23-year-old’s goalscoring record in his native Switzerland is impressive with both Basel and St Gallen.

He alongside Mohamed Elyounoussi at Basel and has Champions League ad Europa League experience.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon said: “We are delighted to bring Albian to Celtic. He is a tremendous player, an international with real quality and I know he is really determined to do all he can to bring more success to our supporters.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been linked with a surprise move for Oliver Burke.

The Scotland international is set to depart West Brom after spending last season on loan in La Liga with Alaves, playing 31 times in the league.

Burke was on loan at Celtic during the 2018/19 season, featuring 19 times under Brendan Rodgers then Neil Lennon.

Reports in Turkey suggest the Scottish champions are at the front of the queue with interest from Trabzonspor.

Burke has had two substantial moves during his career, joining RB Leipzig for £13million then joining the Baggies for £15million.
