Bookmakers Betfair have placed the head coach as 1/3 to depart the reigning Scottish Premiership champions before the league season has been played to a conclusion.

Celtic currently trail rivals Rangers by 19 points in the title race, albeit with three games in hand, after last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Ibrox Stadium.

The 49-year-old has been under severe pressure from supporters but has retained the backing of majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and chief executive Peter Lawwell, who reportedly wish for Lennon to see out the season.

After backing the manager to turn things around, Celtic won six games in succession in all competitions before Saturday’s loss to their arch-rivals.

Meanwhile, former boss Martin O’Neill remains the bookies’ favourite to succeed Lennon as the next manager of Celtic at odds of 5/4.
