Ajax keen on Celtic loan defender Jason Denayer

CELTIC’S hopes of keeping Jason Denayer on loan for another season could be dashed by Dutch giants Ajax.

According to the Scottish Sun, Ajax boss Frank de Boer had the on-loan Manchester City defender watched during the Hoops’ 2-0 win away to Hamilton and could attempt to take the 19-year-old to Amsterdam next season.

The Belgian stopper will likely be sent out on loan again by Manuel Pellegrini’s side, but Denayer has refused to be drawn on where he will be playing his football during the 2015/16 season.

And Denayer, who made his comeback in the victory at New Douglas Park after being out since November, insists he suffered no ill-effects after lining up alongside Virgil van Dijk and keeping a clean sheet.

Denayer told The Sun: “I felt a bit heavy-legged, but that is normal when you have not played for a long time. The injury is gone and I can do everything at 100 per cent again.”

Celtic boss Ronny Deila said last week that he will do all he can to keep Denayer at Celtic next season.

However, despite the reported interest from Ajax, Denayer has been vague regarding his future.

He said :”I need to wait until the end of the season and see what happens.

“I must concentrate on the matches just now. There are a lot of things in my head at the moment, and I just need to concentrate on playing games.

“The club has said I am doing well here, but the objective in the Premier League for Manchester City is different, and is at a much higher level.

“So I need to do more again but we will see at the end of the season what happens.”

Meanwhile, Celtic face losing out on Hamilton defender Stephen Hendrie with Liverpool circling, and the Hoops have been blocked from taking Derry City’s Michael Duffy on a third trial period.

Duffy is due to start a training period with Brentford, while fellow English Championship outfit Brighton have been linked with a move for Beram Kayal.
