Celtic to play Sunderland away in pre-season friendly

Celtic are to play Sunderland in a pre-season friendly.

The Scottish champions will travel to Wearside for a match to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Stadium of Light.

The game will be played on Saturday 29 July, a week before the new Scottish league season kicks off.

Both clubs share the same principal sponsor in Dafabet and in recognition of this, the teams will play for the Dafabet Cup.

Sunderland played their first game at the Stadium of Light on 31 July 1997 after moving from their previous home at Roker Park.
