Commons has yet to feature so far this season as he makes his way back from injury, but was still included in the squad to face Lincoln Red Imps and Astana.

Along with defender Darnell Fisher, he’s now been left out altogether, though injured midfielder Patrick Roberts remains available for selection should he defy the odds and recover from his hamstring injury in time to play in either of the two legs.

Celtic will have until 11pm on the night before the game to register a “wildcard” selection. They can re-register Commons should they wish, though they are likely keeping the spot free as they try to add a new signing before the deadline.

The first leg of the clash with Be’er Sheva takes place next Wednesday at Celtic Park. The return match in Israel is on the following Tuesday.
