Rodgers revealed that he may have to shake up his starting XI for the fixture with stars such as Tom Rogic making long trips back to Lennoxtown.

With 14 stars coming back from international duty in total, Rodgers was irked at the lack of forethought when it came to scheduling the televised fixture.

He said: “We won’t get the last of them through until Thursday morning so the international break certainly hasn’t been thought through.

“We have had 14 players away on international duty but we are actually playing on Friday night which is absolutely ridiculous.

“That affects our preparations and the team we can play in the game as we have people crossing from the other side of the world so the extra day means everything.”
