Celtic are the bookmakers' favourites to sign Steven Gerrard after the player dropped a massive hint he could soon be leaving LA Galaxy.

The 36-year-old, who joined Galaxy last year after 17 seasons at Liverpool, posted that he will “miss LA” on his Instagram account.

According to SPFL sponsors Ladbrokes, Scotland’s champions are the most likely destination with odds of 7/2 that Gerrard will rejoin his former boss Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead.

They are just ahead of Liverpool and Newcastle, at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively, while the New York MLS franchises (City and Red Bull) are both 6/1.

Rangers have been priced as outsiders at 14/1.

Former Hoops defender Andy Lynch was quoted at the weekend as saying Gerrard is a boyhood Celtic fan. Lynch recalled the occasion when the two met during half-time of a Liverpool game with Stoke, where Gerrard expressed his love of the Celtic Park club.
