Patrick Roberts could miss the Scottish Cup final if Celtic defeat rivals Rangers in next month's semi.

The young winger will likely be called up to the England under-20 squad for the World Cup in South Korea, a tournament which starts on 20 May, seven days before the final.

Celtic will be heavily favoured to make it to the showpiece event after being paired with Rangers in Sunday’s semi-final draw. Brendan Rodgers’ side have won three from three against their Glasgow rivals so far this season, including a 1-0 victory in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Celtic and the FA will have to decide which is more beneficial for the player’s long-term development.

Roberts was a half-time substitute in Celtic’s 4-1 win over St Mirren, a result which booked their place in the last four of Scotland’s premier cup competition.
