Camelon and Rose share the spoils after fiery contest

Both sides were aiming for all three points here in their attempts to prise the Super League title away from holders Bo’ness. As a result the game started at 100 miles an hour and rarely dropped in tempo.

Too fast for good flowing football it was nevertheless an exciting encounter. Camelon were first to the ball during a fiery first half which threatened to spill over on many occasions.

The second half saw no visible drop in the pace of the game with players being caught out before they had the ball under control.

It made for some scrappy exchanges and the referee, who had been lenient in the first half, had to flash the cards to keep a lid on the game. Both keepers were busy without having anything serious to handle until the 54th minute when Camelon were awarded a penalty after Rose central defender Scott Walker pulled Derek Ure down in the box. Eamon Fullerton scored easily from the spot.

Linlithgow equalised with the only piece of good football played all afternoon. Left winger Roddy McLennan turned up on the right before hitting the by-line. His perfectly timed cross to the back post allowed sub Calum Smith head powerfully into the net.
