Camelon 0-2 Linlithgow Rose: Linlithgow fight hard for victory at Camelon

Leaders Rose didn’t spark into life until the 20th minute of this Super League clash when Gordon Herd and Colin Strickland combined to set up Tommy Coyne who curled a shot just wide.

Linlithgow took the lead in the 27th minute thanks to Coyne forcing the ball over the line after Stuart McArthur headed down Adam Nelson’s free kick. Camelon roared back and Hay did well to deny Kelbie.

The home team should have been level before the interval but Marty Wright headed Blair Batchelor’s cross over the bar when it looked easier to score.

Camelon came closer still to an equaliser midway through the second half when Kelbie’s shot clattered the post and rebounded into Hay’s arms.

The home team had fought hard, but it was Linlithgow who enjoyed the territorial advantage in the closing 20 minutes and substitute Roddy MacLennan came close to increasing their lead with a deft chip.

Rose sealed the points deep into injury time when Mark Tyrrell’s 20 yard free kick
eluded Myles Hogarth in the Camelon goal.
