Caley swoop for Williams

INVERNESS have signed versatile Bradford player Steve Williams on loan.

Williams can play centre-half or centre midfield and stands 6ft 4ins tall.

Caley Thistle manager Terry Butcher said: “We had a look at Steve for a couple of days in training last week and have been impressed with what we’ve seen and he’s liked the place.

“With centre-half Chris Hogg’s cruciate injury ruling him out for the rest of the season, he gives us a good option at the back or in the centre of the field. Steve has good experience for a young man and coming here gives him the chance to make a mark in the SPL. He’s strong and quick and good in the air.”

Williams is in line to make his debut against the man who signed him for Bradford in June 2009, Stuart McCall, whose Motherwell side Inverness face tomorrow.

The 24-year-old comes in after Wolves midfielder David Davis and Huddersfield winger Aidan Chippendale returned to England following loan spells.
