Calderwood pines for club challenge

THE last winning manager in a Challenge Cup Final, Jimmy Calderwood undertook the draw for the semi-finals of this season’s Ramsdens-sponsored competition and admitted he would welcome the opportunity to be involved in any cup this season.

Calderwood paired Third Division Annan Athletic at home to Falkirk and Hamilton Accies against Livingston and said he enjoyed Ross County’s 2-0 defeat of Queen of the South at McDiarmid Park in April more than he thought he would. The former Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock manager added: “I was really glad to have been involved in the Challenge Cup with Ross County. I enjoyed the day, it was a wonderful occasion.”

Calderwood is without a club after leaving Dingwall with County’s First Division status secured and his search for employment has gone global. “I miss the game as it has been my whole life and I want back in,” said Calderwood. “I got a call from Holland today and you never know where that will end up. I had an opening in Hong Kong that looked good for a while and other things are popping up in various places.”
