Burnley are reported to have made an approach for Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland.

The English Premiership club have enquired about a £500,000 loan deal after watching the Scotland international during his side's 2-1 home defeat to Livingston on Friday night, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old has scored 30 goals in 38 games for the Tannadice men, mostly in the Scottish Championship, and was called up to the national squad for the first time last year.

Shankland has two caps and scored his first international goal in the 6-0 win over San Marino in October 2019.

The former Aberdeen, St Mirren and Ayr forward was injured in the 1-1 draw against St Johnstone on the opening day of the Premiership season but has scored twice in three starts since his return.

Burnley are also reportedly keen on fellow Tangerines forward Logan Chalmers, who had a spell on loan at Arbroath last season.
