Alves was given time off to recuperate after representing Portugal at the Confederations Cup, and as a result of his involved he missed Rangers’ European exit to Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn.
The 35-year-old was Caixinha’s first signing when he joined from Cagliari in late May.
