Brechin City back home with a bang

BRECHIN City’s Glebe Park passed a pitch inspection yesterday afternoon to end Ray McKinnon’s side’s short sabbatical at Forfar’s Station Park and they returned in style with a 6-0 win over East Fife.

Derek Carcary shot home the opening goal after eight minutes and Andy Jackson doubled their advantage with a neat finish from six yards seven minutes later. Paul McLean headed home the third after 19 minutes and Carcary added the fourth on 36 minutes when he converted a Ryan Stewart pass.

Jackson volleyed in the fifth within two minutes of the restart and Ryan Ferguson wrapped things up 20 minutes from time. The Fifers remain six points ahead of bottom side Albion Rovers after Forfar left Cliftonhill with a 2-1 success.

The Coatbridge side led after seven minutes when Chris Dallas shot home from eight yards. Forfar levelled in first-half injury-time when Iain Campbell’s 30-yard free kick found the net after a deflection off the wall and a fumble by home goalkeeper Matt McGinley. The winner came 20 minutes from time when Chris Templeman managed to squeeze the ball home, despite lying on the ground and shooting in from an acute angle.
