Carling Cup: Good keen for chance to take on Gunners

The 19-year-old Australian defender, who joined the Bantams on loan from Newcastle last month, is poised to make his debut and he said: “It would be a dream come true because all my mates back home are Arsenal supporters,” he said. “When I said I was coming to Bradford they knew we were playing Arsenal and were excited. Even if I’m only on the bench, just to be involved would be great.”

The former Melbourne Heart youngster expects the Gunners to provide a different test to what he has already experienced at Valley Parade, having made his City debut against Brentford in the FA Cup. “The first 20  minutes was a bit of a shock,” Good added. “There were a lot of long balls and it’s a big step up from the reserves league.  It’s something you need to experience if you want to make the step up.”

Unfortunately, it was also an experience Good is unlikely to forget as it turned out he was unregistered due to an administrative error and Bradford were subsequently expelled from the FA Cup for fielding an ineligible player, ending their impressive feat of still being in all three cup competitions – they are also in the Northern Area semi-final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The club have appealed the decision and are awaiting the Football Association’s verdict.
