Both clubs announced that the 21-year-old would move to Perth in the summer when his contract expires.
McKay was a regular for Hearts in the Scottish Premiership last season, but his appearances have been limited to nine this term as he found his path to the team blocked by Danny Wilson and Alim Ozturk.

McKay, who will sign a two-year contract, added: “I’m delighted to sort out my future. It’s a good move for me - I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the club and Tommy Wright.”
Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson said: “I think this will be a good move for Brad. We don’t want to stand in anyone’s way - he wants to be playing more first team games and hopefully he will do that next season.
“In the meantime I am sure he will continue to work hard for us and be ready if called upon.”
