Boss Paulo Sergio insists there's more to come from Hearts

HEARTS manager Paulo Sergio stressed today that there is much more to come from his team following last night's impressive 4-1 victory over Paksi in the Europa League third qualifying round. The Portuguese believes there is plenty room for improvement having watched his side overwhelm their Hungarian opponents in his first match in charge.

Two Ryan Stevenson goals and one apiece for Andy Driver and Rudi Skacel secured Hearts' place in today's Europa League play-off draw. Sergio admitted being unhappy with certain elements of last night's match and pledged to address the areas concerning him over the weeks and months ahead.

"I hope we can improve, we have a lot of things to improve on," he told the Evening News. "I'm very happy with the result and I'm sure, with hard work, we are going to improve the things that I didn't like. I didn't like the last 15 or 20 minutes, we stayed with the ball and we weren't looking forward. I think we should keep the ball but always look forward.

"Some tactical positions we lost made for some confusion in our game. But we have only worked for three days and I'm sure we are going to improve. The players did a very good job together and I am very pleased with them."

Marius Zaliukas, the Hearts captain, and striker Stephen Elliott were due to be assessed by medical staff at Riccarton today after both were forced off by injuries early last night. Their involvement against Motherwell on Sunday will depend on whether they can recover quickly. "We have so many people injured, we had to make forced substitutions last night so we will need to see if we will lose somebody. It is an issue which bothers me a lot," said Sergio. "Marius will see the doctor and we will wait 24 hours to see if it is a big problem or not and if we can play him against Motherwell. It's an issue for the medical department.

"Andrew Driver came back from a long period injured and that worries me a lot. Before the game we had five or six important players injured. Then we lost Elliott and Zaliukas. We work well with the under-19 players and if I have to play young players then I will play them."
