The Buddies now join Hibs, St Johnstone and Livingston in the final four of the competition to be played next month – but not before the football trading period begins.
That has kicked off the usual links across the continent and beyond with Scottish clubs in the thick of it too.
So far there have been few confirmed moves for the mid-season transfer window, but it’s the time of year pre-contract deals can begin to be discussed and with a title race well and truly on in the SPFL Premiership – and now silverware up for grabs for the top league quartet, it could transpire to be a busy January for clubs north of the border.
