Third Division: Berwick move up in chase for promotion chance

Berwick Rangers 4, Queen’s Park 1

Berwick Rangers moved into the play-off places with a 4-1 victory.

Alan Urquhart gave the visitors a fourth-minute lead but Steven Notman levelled, Darren Laveryput Berwick in front, then turned provider for a further two goals with Lee Currie and Notman on target again.

Elgin City 3, Montrose 2

Montrose slipped to fifth place after losing a five-goal thriller.

Terry Masson put the visitors in front in 28 minutes but Elgin’s Paul McMullan equalised. Scott Johnston regained the lead for Montrose but two goals from Paul Harkins, the second a penalty, saw Elgin home.

East Stirling 1, Annan Athletic 2

Annan Athletic came from behind to win 2-1 at Ochilview.

Maxwell Wright got a close-range opener for the hosts in the 17th minute but Annan’s teenage striker David Hopkirk equalised. With 12 minutes remaining, Hopkirk set up Ali Love to net Annan’s winner.

Rory McAllister was once again Peterhead’s match-winner as they earned a crucial 1-0 win.

Peterhead goalkeeper Graeme Smith made some fine saves, but McAllister drilled home the winner in the 34th minute as Peterhead climbed to second place in the table.
