East Stirlingshire 1 - 3 Berwick Rangers: Big win for Little as Berwick see off Shire

BERWICK’S caretaker manager Ian Little strengthened his claims for the Shielfield job on a permanent basis as the Borderers eased past hosts East Stirling 3- 1 in his second game in temporary charge.

Little’s side took the lead early when Stuart Noble twisted away from his marker in the box, and although Calum Antell blocked his well struck effort Darren Gribben pounced on the loose ball and shot home from 16 yards. The Shire equalised with their only effort on goal in the first half when Bradley Coyne thumped home a 20-yard free-kick that went through the wall and underneath Jamie Barclay. The sides were separated again when Lee Currie curled in a corner from the right and defender Andy McLean flicked home from close range.

Noble earned his side a penalty in 65 minutes when he chased a throw in behind the home defence only to be fouled by Antell, who was booked for his troubles, with Gribben grabbing his second goal of the evening with a cool finish from the spot.
