Barry Robson tipped for Ross County manager post

ABERDEEN midfielder Barry Robson and his club have reacted with surprise after bookmakers received a rush of bets on him becoming the next manager of Ross County and suspended betting.

McBookie.com froze their market on the next man to lead County after Derek Adams’ sacking last week after a number of requests from punters wanting to back former Scotland and Celtic man Robson, who remains a key player in Derek McInnes’ squad at Pittodrie.

But a spokesman for Aberdeen said: “We are aware of the claims from bookmakers. However, neither Barry or the manager have any knowledge of any interest in our player.”

Paul Petrie, McBookie.com spokesman, said: “We received a number of requests for Barry Robson to be the next Ross County manager on Saturday night which suggested that it wasn’t a name plucked out of thin air. As soon as he was added the bets followed so it is either a drunken rumour around Dingwall or there is some substance to the gamble.”

The market was re-opened by McBookie.com last night, with Robson now the even-money favourite and Terry Butcher and Danny Lennon next in the
betting at 6-1.
