Barry Ferguson: We'll go on attack against Elgin

Clyde manager Barry Ferguson has seen his squad ravaged by injuries but refuses to be anything but positive for his side's first-leg meeting with Elgin at Broadwood tonight.

The Bully Wee could have seven players unavailable, but Ferguson said: “Elgin are a good team and a team that led the league for a good period.

“But we will go out and attack them. We recognise that it will be a tough game but all games have been tough this season.

“We need to try and take the game to them and see where it takes us.

“They are very strong at home, but have shown recently that they can be strong on the road as well.”

Ferguson’s side clinched their play-off place with a 3-1 win over Stirling Albion at the weekend and he is looking for more of the same.

He said: “We played some really good football in that game and it is a case of asking for the same again.

“We had let ourselves down in the run-in but the boys went out and proved a point at the weekend.”

Mark McLaughlin and John Gemmell picked up knocks against Stirling, but will be given until close to kick-off to prove their fitness.

Scott Durie, Brian McQueen, Jon-Paul McGovern, Sean Higgins and Scott Ferguson are already out for Clyde.

Elgin manager Jim Weir is hoping that his side’s attacking approach will keep the Clyde fans from being a 12th man for Ferguson’s side tonight.

Weir said: “There will be a lot of fans in the home end and we need to do our best to stop them being an extra man.

“We will look to play our normal game which is to go out and look for the win and  hopefully that will silence them.”

Sam Dryden could be added to the squad after injury, but Darryl McHardy is unavailable.
