Bale and Scotland’s Kim Little take PFA awards

GARETH Bale last night landed both the PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards, while Arsenal and Scotland striker Kim Little, who shone for Team GB at last summer’s Olympics, claimed the PFA Women’s Player of the Year.

The Tottenham Hotspur flying machine ensured there was to be no awkward triumph for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, who was also on the shortlist despite being banned for ten weeks after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last weekend. As well as Suarez, Bale beat off competition from Manchester United pair Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick and Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Juan Mata.

The awards were handed out at last night’s ceremony at London’s Grosvenor Hotel, with the Welshman also beating Hazard, Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere to the Young Player award.
