The North Region Junior Champions will have 36-year-old former Aberdeen player Hugh Robertson patrolling their midfield as they make only their second start to a senior Scottish Cup campaign. Burntisland head north with manager Billy Whitehead considering a starting place for veteran forward Mark James.

Edinburgh University v Whitehill Welfare

Edinburgh University take on the side that sits beside them in mid-table of the East of Scotland league. Welfare reached the third round last season before losing to Montrose.

Forres Mechanics v Irvine Meadow

Highland League second-placed outfit Forres Mechanics could be without skipper and last season’s Player of the Year Neil Whyte with a toe injury, while Irvine are hoping that striker Michael Hughes, who hit 28 goals last season for the West of Scotland Champions, is available after injury.

Fort William v Bo’ness Utd

The game at Claggan Park is in doubt because of the heavy rain that has fallen in Lochaber this week. If the game is postponed it will give the Fort an extra week to have goalkeeper John Campbell and full-back Stephen Hendry fit.

Fraserburgh v Civil Service Strollers

Fraserburgh will be led in the Scottish Cup by a new manager for the first time in 28 years with Kris Hunter having taken over from Charlie Duncan.

Gala Fairydean v Hawick RA

This tie is being played at Selkirk’s Yarrow Park as an artificial surface is being installed at Gala’s home of Netherdale. Hawick are without keeper Willie Turner.

Glasgow University v Cove Rangers

Last season the Glasgow side saw off Burntisland Shipyard to reach round two but they face a much tougher task against Cove.

Huntly v Newton Stewart

Huntly have re-signed Polish striker Andrej-Slavomir Kleczkowski and bring 19-year-old former Montrose midfielder Curtis Sangbarani to the club ahead of this tie.

Nairn County v Selkirk

Former Ross County and Peterhead striker Connor Gethins returned last weekend against Buckie Thistle and proved he was ready to lead the Nairn line by scoring twice.

Rothes v Clachnacuddin

Stephen Fraser and Gary Callacher should return for Rothes, although work commitments could see Graeme Bain miss out. Clach welcome back Struan Scott-Woodhouse after suspension and Scott Morrison from holiday.

St Cuthbert Wanderers v Keith

St Cuthbert’s, who beat Highland League opposition Fraserburgh last season before losing 9-0 to Stranraer in the second round, face Keith without the banned Stuart Cluckie. Keith have Derek Nicol suspended and injury could rob them of strikers Cammy Keith and Jonathan Smith.

Vale of Leithen v Girvan

Vale sit second behind Spartans in the East of Scotland Premier Division having won both their league games and scoring nine goals in the process.

Wick Academy v Coldstream

The East of Scotland First Division side are making the 600-mile round trip to Harmsworth Park some 57 years after they made their last visit and they will gladly settle for the same score. The ‘Streamers’ won 4-2 on that occasion.

Wigtown and Bladnoch v Preston Athletic

Wigtown will need to improve on their league form of one win in seven to progress against an in-form Preston side.
