Honeyman, who was born in Adelaide, Australia, played for the wee Rangers last term and succeeds Jimmy Crease, who quit to become general manager of Berwick Rangers.

But despite his inexperience as a manager, secretary Jim Weighand is confident the club have the right man for the job.

"I think what Ben will bring is a lot of enthusiasm," said Weighand. "He was keen to get into the coaching side of things and this is a good opportunity for him and for the club.

"He is well liked in the dressingroom and had a good knowledge of both the senior and the junior game which will help him make the transition."
