The 32-year-old has been struggling with injury and hasn’t played a game since early December. With the striker unlikely to be available before the end of the season, Alloa have taken the move to release him from his contract early.

Chopra signed for the Clackmannanshire club midway through last season. He netted two crucial goals in the play-offs as Alloa secured their survival in the second tier.

After initially leaving the club, he returned later in the summer to sign a new one-year deal. However, this season has been less than productive, with a fantastic strike in the 5-1 defeat to Rangers back in August being his only goal.

Alloa currently sit bottom of the Championship, 10 points adrift of ninth place Livingston.
