Allan Moore was hoping for another type of headache

Morton manager Allan Moore got his wish of a selection headache for the trip to face Celtic at Parkhead, although not in the manner he was looking for.

Moore had been hoping that the chance to be like Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax and run out at Parkhead would have lifted his players, but Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Queen of the South made it five games in a row without a win.

The Cappielow boss said: “I had hoped to have a selection dilemma of the right kind due to the competition for a starting place. Unfortunately that never happened and I have a dilemma of the opposite kind…who is playing well enough to be included?

“We were really disappointing on Saturday but hopefully going to Celtic will lift us. The players know they cannot do anything other than give total concentration for the 90 minutes.”

Morton miss Thomas O’Ware and Joe McKee through knocks. Dougie Imrie is likely to start despite being hauled off at half-time at the weekend with Moore disappointed with his contribution.

Meanwhile, midfielder Reece Hands thinks it is “crazy” that he will be using the same dressing room as international superstars just two months after heading north from Blackburn
Rovers.

The 19-year-old said: “I watched Celtic play AC Milan last week in the Champions League and I was smiling to myself, thinking that I was going to be using the same dressing room that they will be in soon. It is crazy to think that not long after I play at Celtic Park the likes of Mario Balotelli and Kaka will be playing there.”

Hands added: “I was never expecting that after beating Montrose in the last round.

“When I was down south last season, I watched the Celtic and Barcelona game in the Champions League and I thought I would love a taste of playing there. It was the same last month when they played Shakhter Karagandy.

“It is the first time in my life I have had a game like this.”
