All Bingo on the Preston Athletic front

David Bingham, who was appointed as manager of newly-promoted East Seniors Central Taxis Premier Division side Preston Athletic at the end of last season, embarks on his new career tonight with a pre-season friendly against one of his former clubs, SFL Second Division outfit, Forfar Athletic.

Bingham is starting his first managerial job after coaching Tynecastle in the Premier Division last season. Bingham also enjoyed a long playing
career with Dunfermline
Athletic, Inverness Caley
Thistle, Livingston and Gretna.

Only six of Preston’s squad remain with the club from last season. Sean Thomson, Mark Stewart, Kevin Morrison, Frazer Henderson, Sean Martin and Steven McCormack all re-signed while keeper John Gilbertson has joined from Tynecastle.

“Playing against Forfar Athletic will be a good test for us,” said Bingham. “We will enjoy the challenge and we have three more games before we meet Fort William in the preliminary round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.” The match kicks off at 7.30pm at the Pennypit in Prestonpans.

Elsewhere tonight, Civil Service Strollers entertain league newcomers Burntisland Shipyard, kick-off 6.45 pm, Selkirk meet Cowdenbeath (7.30) and Gala Fairydean have Edinburgh University as visitors (7.45).
