McLeish was the fourth manager Zamalek have had this season. He was boss for only 10 games, six of which he won along with two draws and two defeats.

He steered the club into the group stages of the African Champions League but couldn’t significantly close the gap on rivals Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League.

McLeish was Zamalek’s seventh manager in the past two years. The board are set to announce his replacement in the next few days.
