Airdrie United 2 - 3 Brechin City: City find form at hosts’ expense

TEN man Airdrie United were beaten by a previously off-form Brechin City at the Excelsior Stadium.

Airdrie’s Ryan Donnelly hit the woodwork before Jim Lister made the breakthrough for the visitors in 34 minutes, scoring from six yards from a Charlie King cross.

John Boyle came within inches of equalising in the opening seconds of the second half, but the match took a further turn for the worse for the home team in 51 minutes when Rhys Devlin saw red for a foul on Lister.

The ten men did force an equaliser as Donnelly got his 20th goal of the season midway through the second half.

It looked to be heading for a draw but burst back into life when substitutes Paul McManus and David McKenna scored in quick succession to give Brechin a 3-1 advantage, but a late Donnelly second made for a nervy finish.
