Airdrie boss recovering after stroke

AIRDRIEONIANS have revealed that head coach Eddie Wolecki Black suffered a stroke during Saturday's victory over Cowdenbeath.

Wolecki Black was rushed to hospital after falling ill at half-time in the Ladbrokes League One contest at Central Park.

The Lanarkshire club later revealed the 50-year-old’s condition had stabilised.

A club statement read: “Eddie fell seriously ill during the half-time interval of the 1-3 League One win at Cowdenbeath.

“He was taken by ambulance to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital and tests there confirmed that he had suffered a stroke in the dressing room. On Saturday night Eddie was transferred to a specialised stroke unit at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital where his condition has stabilised and he is now recuperating.”
