The former Celtic forward suffered a calf injury in last Thursday's Euro 2020 qualifying play-off final defeat to Slovakia, and will now miss the clash with Rangers, as well as Aberdeen’s next two matches away to Hamilton next Wednesday and the Betfred Cup last 16 tie at St Mirren on Saturday, November 28.

Dons boss Derek McInnes said: "Niall unfortunately got injured against Slovakia and will miss our next three games with a calf injury. Unfortunately that is the trade-off of those extra international games."

It leaves McInnes without five key men for the trip to face the league leaders with Marley Watkins, Dylan McGeouch and former Celtic winger Jonny Hayes also ruled out due to injury while loaned-out Rangers ace Ross McCrorie is unavailable to play against his parent club.
